Happiest person alive...

I just maybe the happiest person alive right now. You don't realize what you have until you no longer have it! This was a test for me, didn't think I'd make it. But I did! Kicking and screaming the entire time! I'm so happy right now! Fiona will be in my hands tomorrow! And we are going to bond!

Debating with people about italy part 2

I am "friends" with a group on facebook. It's not a like page or an official group, it is made up like a friend where some overseas wives all talk, ask questions, get help etc. Well today a question was made and asked your favorite and least duty station. Of course I said it was Vicenza. Nothing more. "My favorite is Cherry Point, NC and my least is Vicenza" I left it at that. Someone asks why. So I told them. I mentioned about money. And if people say that things aren't more expensive here, that is a lie. About the dog going in the restaurant in Venice. The rude people. Etc. Nothing over the top. I was NOT rude by any means, and they as why I .... I didn't like it.

This has been bothering me for like an hour that's why I brought it here. I did link them here too so I am sure one of two or twenty will read it and it's okay!

Someone said, that what I said about italy was offensive. Really? Really? Because I stated things I have PERSONALLY encountered it is offensive. Okay, well I am so sorry. Get over it. I didn't say, EVERYONE feels this way. or EVERYONE hates it here.

And then there are like 11 ladies bitching about how they hate bragg. That its scum etc. Really? You don't think that maybe offensive to someone? Do you like drum? Do you like stewart? Do you like hood? Do you like lewis?

Think about this, you are NOT going to like every where you go. And just because YOU hate it there, others may not. Others may LOVE it! That is okay. And just because someone has bad experiences and shares them does not mean they are trying to be rude or disrespectful.

We don't have to love every place we go. You know it really might offend me when people say they hate drum, since I am from right by there. How pathetic does that sound? You are entitled not to love every place you go.

Stop judging people because they don't like their current duty station. Some people loved it when they got there and after time began to hate it. Others hate it when they get there and end up loving it. Some don't realize what they had until they left it. Me with Ft. drum is a prime example.

Instead of knocking people down, perhaps offering some advice maybe a better way to go about it. Although I hate it here, I would help anyone who did come here, with whatever I could. But I also wouldn't lie to them and say I love it here. My statement to them would be "I may not love it here, but you may. And here is XXXX info on something that you can do..."

More to come later....

Debating with people about italy part 1

It truly cracks me up!

I can justify everything I have to say about Italy to myself. I also try to explain why I feel certain ways.

At first when I got here I didn't give it a shot at all. Now, I still don't love it here as I've said before but I can survive.

I got into a lengthy phone call with my best friend Kate back home yesterday. And this was the first time I was talking about italy and explaining things in a different way.

American's are spoiled. We are. You might not think we are. But trust me, we are. We have roadrunner, you have your dvr and cable. Everything is fast paced. You want something done it happens very quickly. That is not the case here.

Just because you LOVE italy. or you love europe. Or you loved spain. Or guam. Or germany. DOES NOT MEAN I HAVE TO. OR I WILL. I am happy you had a great experience, but we are different people.. and for all you know things could have changed since you or your friend or you friends, neighbors, 2nd cousin once removed was here. You cannot compare me... or my experience to you. We are different people with different beliefs and lifestyles. Thats what makes the world turn, the diversity. LOVE IT!

First off there are a couple of quick fixes if you do not like that I am not happy in this country. You can unfriend me from facebook, trust me it won't hurt my feelings, like it does to other people. and you can stop reading my blog. These choices are up to you. If you want to follow our journey, the UPS and DOWNS then i invite everyone along. If you can't handle my bitching, Ciao!

I am sharing with everyone MY personal experience. I'm never stating you WILL encounter these things. or you WILL feel the same way. But you might.

When I was talking to kate I went through to explain some things to her. I don't know what it is about my bestest but I can just explain things well to her! Probably because she is my bestest.

Lets start with public transportation. In the states I never took public transportation. Why? I always had a car. I was spoiled. My thoughts was that only poor, broke people took public transportation. I now think of that differently. Public transportation is used differently here then in the states. Everyone uses it. It's not the panhandlers coming on the bus trying to mooch money off of you. It really is different. It is OKAY to use it! And I don't mind!

Here is another thing I've noticed my thoughts on change. In the states when there was someone who spoke another language I would think to myself, damn it, you are in america, speak our language. That was ignorant on my part. I didn't think anything of it at the time. But being here has opened my eyes. It's not easy to learn the language of where you are. I don't know much Italian. I know enough to get me by when needed. I am trying, just as other people would (i hope) be trying in america. We can't expect people to learn our language over night, just as i can't learn this one over night.

I'll be back shortly to write more.

Deep reading

I found one of my favorite blogs. Back when I was pregnant with boston I was on a pregnancy forum. One of the women blogged there. Well, at some point I had not been able to catch up with her. The blog was gone. Blogger said it was no longer there. I was sad! Seriously, I had so much fun reading along. Well, now... 2 years later I have spent over 2 hours catching up with Holly, Tripper and the boys! I actually went back through the pregnancy forum to see if she had posted her new blog anywhere and she did! This girl is happy!

... 5

5 years ago, today my first son Kaiden was born! I still remember walking down the hall at the Naval Hospital in Cherry Point, North Carolina ready to have my son. I also remember the 14 hours of labor to end up with a c-section, because he wanted to come out in a not so traditional way (would could have cause neck injuries). I should have known then and there he would be my difficult child ;). Not really, he is a very sweet little man with an imagination beyond my wildest dreams. And smart, smart doesn't even begin to explain him. He does have a speech delay, but has been in speech therapy for over a year now, almost 2. His speech delay never slowed him down. He knew how to add at 4 years, 5 months. I was stunned one evening while we were doing his 1st grade sisters home work and I was speaking about math and asked what X+X=? without any delay kaiden just said what it was. I probably looked like I has saw a ghost. So I asked him a few more, and he knew it all. Little smarty pants!

Here is kaiden 5 years ago, ahhh, the peace we had back then ;)

Holidays away from home

I am not a spend-the-holiday with every member of my family type girl. We keep it low key. Do our thing as a family and then when we were in NY, maybe make an appearance to see some family. Maybe not. Maybe visit them a week after or 3 days before. Depended on the weather and how much of their bickering I wanted to hear at that given time.

I love my family don't get me wrong. However, it is full of a bunch of nonsense. One of the greatest things about being over here is the fact that I am away from it all.

Over the years as a military wife, I've made my own 'family' with the other spouses and children where we were stationed.

In NY I spent christmas and thanksgiving having dinner with the other wives. I was content like that. I did my thing with the kids in the morning and then the afternoon we did our thing as a 'family'. We made it through it all okay!

Now being here, I've begun to build my family here. When you are a military spouse for some years, you can usually weed out the people you know will be nothing but a bunch of drama. Luckily, I have not found that here. I think for many reasons people here are different. We are ALL each other has. We need each other in many aspects here. It's different then the states.

This Easter we did easter morning home with the kids. They got their baskets and then it was over. LOL. It didn't much feel like easter, i'm not quite sure why. Perhaps the fact that it was hotter then hell could have factored in. We are not used to that. We usually have snow.

Easter afternoon we went over to Maria's with some member's of out 'new family' and Maria and her husband cooked us a very delicious dinner! We joked around, harassed each other, and I personally haven't laughed that much since getting here. It was a great day!

So, we had a mishap with the cake, but we are past that now. Maria got us this italian cake, shaped like a bunny. She started hacking pieces off and giving them to the kids and then all the adults. I took a bite (10 minutes after the kids has been munching away) and it tasted funny. There was liquor in it! Not just a little bit, there was some serious liquor in it. The kids pieces were pretty much gone. Thank goodness they has a paw of the bunny which was less-liquor-filled. We were laughing so hard. Oh my goodness it was just hilarious! And I will probably never let maria live that one down!

It's all a learning experience here. And it CAN be fun. And some times its not. And your kids may end up drunk in the process. But we are making it... one day at a time!

Tackle it Tuesday

Mine is quite simple this week!! I will be tackling the house! We are officially moving in tomorrow! Our house hold goods have been delivered, all the new stuff we bought has also arrived. We will be spending the day at the house today unpacking, decorating, putting furniture together. And of course enjoying the view of the Alps from our home.

Tackling the house is pretty self explanitory. I have NO IDEA where I am going to start. I do however LOVE unpacking, redecorating and setting up a new house. I am the perfect military wife because I DO LOVE MOVING. I may not like our area but the fact that we get a new house to start fresh in every few years makes me happy. And this is the biggest house we've ever lived in. 4 levels. I LOVE our house. The only thing I dislike, is the fact that there is no carpeting and I hate to mop. So I bought a swiffer wet jet lol. I have this thing with mopping. I think its gross. Even in my old houses I never used a mopped. I got buckets of water, dumped it on the floor, scrubbed on my hands and knees, used a towel to sop it up, and kept using towels (like 50 lol) and then i'd put fresh water down and repeat. I have way too much tile to be doing that in this house, I don't have 3,629 towels ;). I am also going to purchase the shark steam mop today!

I will swing by later and post some pictures of the progress!
